Here is a list and a brief description of the artists that real rock has promoted over the years... Starting with the international touring artist first, then national and regional. Wanda Jackson is the Legendary Queen of Rockabilly. Wanda placed #34 on the all time best female country list according to CMTV and hit the # 1 spot on both of America's Pop & Country charts with "Right or Wrong". Her singles and album releases are countless world wide, and Yes, she really did date Elvis Presley!
The Lustre Kings preaching the Rockabilly Gospel from coast-to-coast and around the world, are a contemporary and traditional Rockabilly Band from upstate New York and are currently Wanda Jackson's Back up Band and just played at the 2005 Musikfest in Bethlehem, Penna. They have 3 albums released to date. Rosie Flores is The Rockabilly Filly and Thee chick with a pick from Nashville. She has appeared on Austin City Limits and played t the 2004 Musikfest in Bethlehem, Penna. The best real rock promotion ever was when Rosie and her Falcons opened for and backed Wanda Jackson at the old Golden Key Hotel in May 2003. Ronnie Dawson was known world wide as the King of Rockabilly! His 1959 release of "Rockin' Bones" was covered by many other recording artists. He appeared on several TV show including network TV's Conan O’Brien show. I'm proud to say Ronnie's last small club appearance out side of Texas was a real rock promotion at the Golden Key. We lost Ronnie after a second bout with cancer in 2003. Ray Condo and His Ricochets toured France often and was the first Cat a real rock promotion ever booked. He appeared on CBS network TV, but Ray also passed away in early 2004. The lesson learned from the passing of both Ray Condo and Ronnie Dawson is you got to see them before they are gone. Rayburn Anthony, a Sun Record Artist, is why Johnny Cash & the Tennessee Two became Johnny Cash & the Tennessee Three. Billy Lee Riley, a Sun Record Legend and an originator, the man Keith Richards kneeled in honor to when they first met. Billy is right at home performing Rockabilly or Blues.
